Pasty Passport to take your tastebuds around the world in 80 days

Warrens, Cornwall’s oldest bakery, has launched a ‘Pasty Passport’ to celebrate their new limited-edition range.

Available from mid March (2018), pasty lovers will be able to take their tastebuds on a tantalising tour of some of the world’s most popular dishes without the need for long-distance travel – all with a Cornish twist!

Tipped as one of the top three craft bakeries in the UK and gaining the highest place for a retailer in The World Pasty Championship, Warrens Bakery are launching a brand-new limited-edition range of delicious pasties and sandwiches all of which are inspired by family meal-time favourites from around the globe.

The artisan bakery will also be launching their first ever ‘Pasty Passport’, which customers will be able to pick up in stores from mid-March.

The new ‘Pasty Passport’ features a ‘travel check list’ to stamp each time a new pasty is bought in stores throughout England. Each new flavour from the journey is only guaranteed to be on the shelves for two weeks before the journey continues to a new flavourful destination. Everyone who completes their journey around the pasty globe and tries the full ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ range will be able to redeem their fully-stamped Pasty Passport, receiving any medium pasty for free as well as a chance to be entered in a prize drawer for a chance to win a two-day trip to Paris for two people in return.

The pasty connoisseurs at Cornwall’s oldest bakery have taken their long-time favourite bake and given it a worldly makeover. Perfect as a quick meal on the move, each unique flavour will only be available to purchase for two weeks with the first flavour available from 13th March 2018. The traditional bakery will be putting the new pasties to the test, with the chance for some flavours to return at the end of the campaign journey.

Destinations where the pasties will stop off range from Italy to Mexico, Texas to Morocco. The Around the World range is inspired by iconic dishes that have become staple favourites around the globe.

Guardians of the Cornish Pasty since 1860, Warrens Bakery continue to hand-crimp all of their pasties in St Just, near Land’s End, hand crimping three pasties every minute. The recipes and hand-craft skills have been passed down generation after generation.

The ‘Around the World in 80 Days’ launch cements the British bakery as pasty pioneers and also includes two brand new Sausage Rolls. Head Baker Jason Jobling, who has been with the team for over 26 years and is also Chair of the Cornish Pasty Association, worked on the development of the range. Commenting ahead of the launch he said –

“We have spent many months testing and tasting various recipes to perfect the final bakes. The Around the World in 80 Days range offers something different, exciting and delicious and we can’t wait for customers to try the full selection. Authentic, world favourite dishes have been given a Cornish makeover, encased within our signature traditional pastry. We can’t wait to find out which pasty will be chosen to join our family of award-winning bakes.”
